Les Stroud's new knife The Temagami, from Helle.

I got a chance to handle the new Les Stroud Temagami knife at Shotshow Show 2011, and so far I believe it's got potential. Very comfortable grip with no hard angles. Full tang design, with brass pins and curly burch handles. We do know there are two versions coming out soon. The stainless first followed by the carbon model. At a wholesale price of $100, count on this being as high as the $180.00 area for retail!

  1. I'm hoping that price point is for the initial limited edition - if they're expecting to charge that much (twice the $$$ of their other knives), I don't think they'll see much take up.

  2. Actually, you have some incorrect information here - Helle knives are not 12c27 - they're triple laminated (three layered) stainless or carbon, the steels being Helle's own formulation, which they're pretty tight lipped about.

The initial run of Temagami's (including the one you saw at the SHOT show) are carbon, with stainless to follow.

  3. That was the information given to use at Show Show 2011 by Blue Ridge Knives who will be importing the knives in the states. Helle does use 12c27, which is a stainless steel. They have used it in several models such as the Folkekniven, Jegermester, Lappland, and Grizzly.
